Move over Gareth Malone – now there’s Songscope; a dedicated children’s choir!
The choir was launched in September with the aim of encouraging children to enjoy singing within a group. Singing, making music and performing all help to develop self-confidence and self-esteem, and the choir allows children to make friends from other schools in the area and have fun together. The choir is growing in number but is always open to new members! Anyone who would like to come along and try a session before deciding whether to join, is very welcome, and the first week is free of charge.
Children’s ages are school years 4 – 9 (roughly 8 years – 14 years). Meet at Ducklington Primary School each Wednesday evening from 6.00 pm – 7.30 pm.
Ticket prices for their first Concert, at Cokethorpe School on Saturday 17 December at 7.00 pm, are: £5 for adults; £3 for children, £12 for a family ticket of up to 2 adults and 2 children. As well as the children singing, there will be some solo instrumentalists and the opportunity for the audience to join in.
