1 John 3:1–3 (Listen)

3:1 See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.

About Rev'd Paul Boddam-Whetham: I joined the parish of Ducklington with Hardwick in February 2016 from my previous post as curate in St Albans. I had been in the construction industry, having been with John Laing Construction for 25 years and then Bovis Project Management for 10 years before falling victim to the 2008/9 recession and taking early retirement. At this point I was already going through the discernment process with the Bishop and was offered a training place with the Eastern Region Ministry Course. Having been a late responder to God’s call to ordained ministry, I was content to offer myself across the breadth of opportunity that was available as I came to the end of my curacy and I am honoured to be invited to serve as your Rector and am excited to be part of God’s mission both in Ducklington and the wider deanery.
