Gospel<\/u><\/strong>    <\/strong>John 1.29\u201342<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hear the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to John <\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/sup>29<\/sup> The next day he saw Jesus coming towards him and declared, \u2018Here is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! 30<\/sup>This is he of whom I said, \u201cAfter me comes a man who ranks ahead of me because he was before me.\u201d 31<\/sup>I myself did not know him; but I came baptizing with water for this reason, that he might be revealed to Israel.\u2019 32<\/sup>And John testified, \u2018I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it remained on him. 33<\/sup>I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water said to me, \u201cHe on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.\u201d 34<\/sup>And I myself have seen and have testified that this is the Son of God.\u2019<\/p>\n

35 The next day John again was standing with two of his disciples, 36<\/sup>and as he watched Jesus walk by, he exclaimed, \u2018Look, here is the Lamb of God!\u2019 37<\/sup>The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus. 38<\/sup>When Jesus turned and saw them following, he said to them, \u2018What are you looking for?\u2019 They said to him, \u2018Rabbi\u2019 (which translated means Teacher), \u2018where are you staying?\u2019 39<\/sup>He said to them, \u2018Come and see.\u2019 They came and saw where he was staying, and they remained with him that day. It was about four o\u2019clock in the afternoon. 40<\/sup>One of the two who heard John speak and followed him was Andrew, Simon Peter\u2019s brother. 41<\/sup>He first found his brother Simon and said to him, \u2018We have found the Messiah\u2019 (which is translated Anointed). 42<\/sup>He brought Simon to Jesus, who looked at him and said, \u2018You are Simon son of John. You are to be called Cephas\u2019 (which is translated Peter).<\/p>\n
