Gospel<\/u><\/strong>       Matthew 9.9\u201313,18\u201326<\/p>\n

Hear the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Matthew<\/em><\/p>\n

All<\/em>           Glory to you, O Lord.<\/strong>      <\/p>\n

9<\/sup> As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax booth; and he said to him, \u2018Follow me.\u2019 And he got up and followed him.<\/p>\n

10 <\/sup>And as he sat at dinner in the house, many tax-collectors and sinners came and were sitting with him and his disciples. 11<\/sup>When the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, \u2018Why does your teacher eat with tax-collectors and sinners?\u2019 12<\/sup>But when he heard this, he said, \u2018Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 13<\/sup>Go and learn what this means, \u201cI desire mercy, not sacrifice.\u201d For I have come to call not the righteous but sinners.\u2019<\/p>\n

18<\/sup> While he was saying these things to them, suddenly a leader of the synagogue came in and knelt before him, saying, \u2018My daughter has just died; but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live.\u2019 19<\/sup>And Jesus got up and followed him, with his disciples. 20<\/sup>Then suddenly a woman who had been suffering from haemorrhages for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his cloak, 21<\/sup>for she said to herself, \u2018If I only touch his cloak, I will be made well.\u2019 22<\/sup>Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, \u2018Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well.\u2019 And instantly the woman was made well. 23<\/sup>When Jesus came to the leader\u2019s house and saw the flute-players and the crowd making a commotion, 24<\/sup>he said, \u2018Go away; for the girl is not dead but sleeping.\u2019 And they laughed at him. 25<\/sup>But when the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took her by the hand, and the girl got up. 26<\/sup>And the report of this spread throughout that district.<\/p>\n

This is the Gospel of the Lord.<\/p>\n

All<\/em>           Praise to you, O Christ.<\/strong><\/p>\n
