{"id":28011,"date":"2025-06-01T08:00:36","date_gmt":"2025-06-01T07:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ducklingtonchurch.org.uk\/?p=28011"},"modified":"2025-05-30T14:14:12","modified_gmt":"2025-05-30T13:14:12","slug":"letter-from-roy-llm-and-jenny-tarbox","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ducklingtonchurch.org.uk\/?p=28011","title":{"rendered":"Letter from Roy (LLM), and Jenny Tarbox"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>For many years, as our children have grown up and gradually left home, we have been fortunate to enjoy a family holiday in a tiny, peaceful, unspoilt corner of Mallorca.<br \/>\nYes really!&nbsp; &nbsp;Forget noisy bars, discos and badly behaved tourists, giving this beautiful, mountainous island a bad name.<br \/>\nRecently Jenny and I returned once more.<br \/>\nAt early morning and sunset, all that could be heard was the sea gently lapping on the shore outside our room and twittering sparrows in the bushes beneath our balcony.<br \/>\nCut off from the busyness of daily life the words of Psalm 46:10 spring to mind, \u201cBe still and know that I am God\u201d .<br \/>\nYears ago our holidays were filled with exploring, trekking and cycling. Now in our later years, there is more time to enjoy God&#8217;s creation. Whether on our balcony, or sitting in the magnificent Palma Cathedral, surrounded by hundreds of awe-inspired tourists.<br \/>\nA building soaked in prayer, praise and worship over many centuries giving the opportunity to be still, talk to God, times of contemplation, and most importantly, to listen to him.<br \/>\nWhere is your quiet place &#8221; To be still and know that I am God\u201d? &nbsp;The bath, the garden shed, or the seat by the village pond?<br \/>\nAs we celebrate the season of Pentecost, and the coming of the Holy Spirit to those first disciples, let us step aside from the busyness of life.<br \/>\nIt is an opportunity to take time to be still to seek a deeper relationship with our God through His life-giving Holy Spirit.<br \/>\nHow about joining our evening services in June for a time of reflection and contemplation.<br \/>\nAn opportunity to step aside, refocus, connect with God afresh, alongside members of our church family.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For many years, as our children have grown up and gradually left home, we have been fortunate to enjoy a family holiday in a tiny, peaceful, unspoilt corner of Mallorca.
