Who are these courses for?
Offered by the Diocese of Oxford as part of its Local Ministry Programme, these courses are for those training as Licensed Lay Ministers (LLMs) or for ordination, and also a growing number of people with a passion to learn more about their faith, about God and our place in his world. Perhaps you want to explore something new, become better equipped or dig a bit deeper into what you believe and why? Simply select your course and sign up.
ALL CHRISTIANS CARE FOR OTHERS, BUT SOME DEVELOP A PARTICULAR MINISTRY IN THIS AREA, FORMAL OR INFORMAL.
This course is for ordinands and LLMs in training, and for anyone who would like to learn more about this important area. It will explore practical skills in pastoral care, issues of good practice (failures in care are still much in the news) and some theological questions of what it means to be human and to care as a Christian.
This course will be delivered online. Learning materials (videos, guided reading and online tasks) for week 1 will go live on Friday 16 April. You will then work through these materials at your own pace, in time for your first group tutorial on either Wednesday 21 or Thursday 22 April. Learning materials for future weeks will be released each Friday, for you to work through ahead of each subsequent tutorial. Bookings will close on Wednesday 14 April so that tutorial groups can be arranged before the course begins.
You will work on learning materials in our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), Moodle. You will need to be set up on Moodle to access the course.
