Diocese of Oxford

Andrea: our new Rector!

An update from Gill:-

I am delighted to announce that following the interviews on Tuesday the Bishop of Dorchester has appointed Andrea Colbrook as our new Rector.

We had 7 applicants and we interviewed 4 candidates.

The panel felt that Andrea had a real calling to come to Ducklington

We felt she met all the attributes that we were looking for in a Rector

She is passionate about pastural support and has a heart for village ministry

She was licensed in 2019 and ordained in 2020 in the Oxford Diocese

At present she is a curate in the Wantage Deanery

Due to the pandemic and the retirement of her Rector, Andrea has taken on an increased level of responsibility for a curate

I want to thank everyone who was involved in Tuesday’s interview day.

Bishop Gavin, the panel and the candidates were very impressed with the welcome and hospitality they received throughout the day.  They asked me to pass on their thanks.

And now, a message from Andrea:

It is with great delight that I have accepted the post as your new Rector following a wonderful day with many of you on Tuesday. Ade and I felt very welcome and it confirmed my own sense of calling to you as a Church.

By way of introduction, Ade and I have been married for 27 years and we have two daughters, Emily and Beth. Emily is married to Dan, they both work in the NHS and have just had their first child, our granddaughter Bella. Beth is a third-year medical student at Southampton University.

I am completing my curacy in the Ridgeway Benefice, just outside of Wantage. I have a background in district nursing and counselling, and was a Hospital Chaplain in Oxford prior to my curacy. I love walking our dog, reading, crocheting and I am learning to knit following Bella’s arrival!

I look forward to meeting you all in person very soon.

Many Blessings

Andrea
