Rambling Group Walk – May – **UPDATED**

Our next Saturday ramble will be a 3 mile Eynsham circular walk on 9th May.

UPDATE

Alison and I completed a recce of the Eynsham circular walk on 2nd May. It was a glorious day and the walk varied but pleasant. We would like to suggest that whilst some of the walk is on pavements in Eynsham and well-maintained pathways through the Millenium Woods, there are also narrow, uneven pathways that are not for pushchairs and folk who are not as steady on their feet as they would wish to be. We fear that children under 5 years might very well struggle. We would recommend sturdy walking shoes for all, and a walking pole if you have one.

At times we skirted farming land with a crop in situ; at those areas the grass was at least hip high. We didn’t come across any stinging nettles. We think that dogs will be in their element on this walk, but will need a lead at their owner’s discretion.

Two highlights of the walk were the Eynsham Mill on the River Evenlode, and our refreshment stop at the Cherry Tree Café in Mill Street, Eynsham.

We started our walk at the Back Lane Car Park (OX29 4QP). There are 60 standard free parking places. We arrived at the car park at 10.00 and there were at least 30 places available. I suggest we meet at about 09.45 for a 10.00 start. We are guessing that one should be prepared for a 2 hour walk. The Cherry Tree Café is about 500 yards or so from the car park.

Should you wish to see a map guide of the walk, please Google ‘Eynsham Mill Circular Walk’.
