The Dorcas Dress Project

A letter from Maria Skoyles

The PCC has kindly agreed to support The Dorcas Dress Project in prayer and with bucket appeals as the need arises.  Maria has been invited to talk at an inner city church in Leicester on Sunday.  Leicester is the capital of fashion manufacturing in the UK, with 1000 factories employing 10,000 garment workers, who are mostly from marginalised communities living in the city.  There is huge concern for this majority BAME female workforce  as there are numerous reports of exploitation, with workers receiving well below the minimum wage for their work.  Please pray for us as we take steps to set up a sewing hub, supporting those in poverty, sharing Jesus’ love, and making a prophetic statement to the industry that clothing manufacture needs to be, and can be, fair and just.
